A Family Affair: The Cartiers

Photo: Francesca Cartier Brickell

A member of the Cartier family Francesca Cartier Brickell, takes us in a very personal way through its history. She followed in her great-grandfather’s footsteps, using his diaries as a guide; she met elderly jewelry designers, pearl stringers, and salesmen who worked for her ancestors in London, Paris, and New York, and spoke to descendants of important clients all over the world.

This is a book about the small – and big – things of the family behind Cartier and the three brothers who turned their grandfather’s humble Parisian jewelry store into a global luxury icon.

Recently, Martin Green at Troisanneaux interviewed Francesca and asked her to provide even more insight into the extraordinary history of the eponymous brand.
